Turnovers – An Easy Treat
This past year I have been reading the Little House series with my children. We are on the 3rd book, “Farmer Boy” which is about Almanzo. In it he talks about his mother packing turnovers in his lunch. He also seems to always be eating doughnuts! My kids asked me if I could make them turnovers. Why not?! I am always looking for quick and easy treats. Turnovers have become a favorite go to for these reasons, and they are so yummy.

What you’ll need:
Here is what you need to make turnovers:
1 package of Puff Pastry
1 can of pie filling
1 egg for an egg wash (egg mixed with a little water)
Powdered sugar for sprinkling on top
Make it:
- Thaw the puff pastry ahead of time.
- Roll out the puff pastry slightly. You do not want the pastry to be too thin.
- Cut the pastry into 4 equal sections.
- Place a spoonful of pie filling in the center of each square.
- Wet the edges of the square with water and fold one corner over to the other corner diagonal from it.
- Use a fork to crimp the edges of your turnover.
- Place your turnovers onto a cookie sheet and brush with the egg wash.
- Bake for 20 minutes in a 350 degree oven.
- Dust your turnovers with powdered sugar.
- Enjoy!
