Slowing Down

I started off this year talking about the start of the year being a clean slate. Now the whole goal of Beautifully Quaint is to help you create a good life and to do that I believe it is important to slow down. In general, I find myself stressed out and rushed. I have a long list of my own tasks I want to accomplish (this includes my job), then there’s educating and caring for my children, and on top of that there are all of the household chores, not to mention my kids’ activities and any other extra commitments I have made. Some days, I wake up and just stare at the wall. I am so exhausted. I don’t want to think about all the things that are going to demand something from me that day. The remedy for all of the exhaustion (mental, emotional and physical), stress and anxiety is slowing down.

I know you are probably thinking the same thing I did, “I can’t slow down! I have too much to do!”. I get that, but hear me out. There are alot of different ways to slow down and not all of them are for everyone. Here are Beautifully Quaint we are going to explore several different ways to slow down and help add rest and peace to your life.

The first way to slow down and improve your life is by planting an herb garden. Now I am not talking a large, outdoor garden. I am talking a few pretty little pots with the herbs you use the most when cooking. Fresh herbs have more flavor than the dried ones and they keep growing so you won’t have to spend money on the dried, grocery store herbs. Another perk is having greenery in your home which will brighten your mood. Want an added bonus? Herbs are easy to propagate and make great gifts. So pinch off a branch of your basil and put it in water. Soon you will see roots grow. Plant your new basil plant in a pretty little pot and give it to a friend.
