Do Good
Here you will find ways can help others and "be the good" you want to see in the world.
Love+One International
This week I was made aware of an organization with the goal of providing medical care to the children of Uganda. The organization took root after Suzanne & Mike Mayernick adopted their daughter from a Ugandan orphanage. When they went to get her, their 3 year old weighed only 15 lbs, had malaria, tuberculosis, and tested HIV positive. Left in Uganda this little girl would not have lived but with the proper medical care she is thriving. After their experience, Suzanne couldn’t ignore the reality in Uganda so she founded Love+One International. Love+One’s mission is to ensures that critically ill children in Uganda receive life-saving medical treatment and rehabilitative services.…
Your Favorite Non-Profits Need Your Help
Normally, this time of year is filled with 5k runs, golf outings, and other events that non-profit organizations depend on to fund a portion of their mission and operations. However, like so many other things that are being affected by COVID-19, many non-profits are unable to hold these events this year. Not only are they unable to hold their events, many are having to refund registration fees and lose deposits they paid to vendors that they now have to break contracts with. While some organizations may reschedule or get creative and find a new way to fund raise, others are struggling. If you are in the position to give, I…
Help Fight Human Trafficking with Blue Bear Coffee Co
I love company’s with that work for a purpose and a cause. Blue Bear Coffee Co is one such company. Below is an excerpt from their website that tells their story. From Blue Bear Coffee Co Our story began a few weeks before Christmas in December 2017, when Bryn, Blue Bear’s founder, an ex UK Police Officer, was working for a charity investigating human trafficking in the Dominican Republic. After one particularly poignant rescue, a young girl was…
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
The color is yellow. It’s the color of sunshine, flowers and honey; a happy color. Maybe that is why it is the color used to raise awareness for children fighting cancer. Children should be living happy, carefree lives, not spending days in bed, sick from chemo, in pain and weighed down by the fear and worry cancer brings. Cancer is something no one should have to deal with, especially children. It is heartbreaking. And the children and parents who are fighting or have fought this battle are some of the strongest people there are. I can’t even write this much without tears. Often, we feel powerless and don’t know how…
Do Good with World Vision
Today I’d like to shine some light on an organization that I use to sponsor a child. When my oldest son turned 5, we sponsored a child from Niger through World Vision. I wanted to teach my children about helping others along with learning about life in a different country. We write to our child and we receive letters. Our monthly donation goes to putting our child through school, providing clothes, food, and clean water. Our child also knows that someone cares about him. Without our donation, this child would not have these provisions or the opportunity to go to school. Often times, when families are struggling to provide the…
